PROTOJE is back in Paris on Saturday, October 21, 2023 ! This time he'll be treading the boards of the legendary Olympia, accompanied by his band THE INDIGGNATION and LILA IKÉ special guest !
The years have gone by, and from his 2014 hit "Who Knows" with Chronixx (180 million views on YouTube), to his second Grammy nomination this year for his album "THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM" (following the nomination of the album "A MATTER OF TIME" in 2018), PROTOJE continues to establish himself as one of the best precursors of the new generation of Jamaican reggae artists. He has rapidly risen to become one of the biggest headliners in this style, and maintains this position with ease thanks to the singular artistic vision he applies to his largely hip-hop-tinged reggae, which is always surprising, authentic and ahead of its time.
His latest projects have been praised by the media far beyond Jamaica and reggae channels: Vogue, Billboard, the BBC, Trace TV, Le Monde, Télérama, Rolling Stone, Nova, FIP, Le Mouv', RFI...
He continues to tour the world's biggest festivals, including Coachella, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Reading & Leeds, Rototom Sunsplash, Reggae Sumfest, Summerjam, Dour, Les Eurockéennes, Cabaret Vert and Boomtown Festival. They have played several hundred concerts in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia, including support slots for LAURYN HILL. In the U.K., they made history with CHRONIXX, attracting over 10,000 people to the Alexandra Palace. At Summerjam in 2022, they closed the festival on the main stage with an anthology concert.
On September 2022, PROTOJE released « THIRD TIME’S THE CHARM" his sixth studio album, recorded in his home studio The Habitat, in the hills of Kingston. With " A MATTER OF TIME " and " IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME" THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM" closes a trilogy revolving around the idea of time. Each of these albums reflects a new pivotal period in PROTOJE's life, prompting new reflections and visions of the world, and personal and professional introspection, as a man, a father and an artist.
With this opus, PROTOJE has kept his deep reggae roots while integrating the hip-hop sounds and beats he has grown to love. The result is a strong, critically acclaimed album featuring featurings with JORJA SMITH, LILA IKÉ , JESSE ROYAL and SAMORY I.
