BIOGRAPHY

Clinton Fearon is a composer, songwriter, singer and player of instruments since his early teens. Born in Jamaica, Clinton became the bassist, vocalist and lyricist of the mythic Gladiators at the age of 19. He spent 18 years with the band and signed several songs for The Gladiators, hits and classics like Chatty Chatty Mouth, Richman Poorman, On The Other Side, Can You Imagine How I Feel, Let Jah Be Praised, One Love, Untrue Girl, and more.

Clinton Fearon was also a musician for various studios in Jamaica, notably with producers Coxsone Dodd at Studio One and Lee 'Scratch' Perry's at Black Ark, but also at Chanel One, Aquarius, Harry J, Randy's, etc. In these studios, Clinton Fearon composed timeless bass lines for well-known artists such as Yabby You, Jimmy Riley, Max Romeo, Junior Byles... After leaving Jamaica in 1987, Clinton Fearon began a new career in Seattle. He and some of the Gladiators musicians took advantage of an American tour to form a new band in the Northwest: The Defenders. The band built up a good following in the region until it broke up after five years. Clinton Fearon then formed his own backing band in the mid-90s with local musicians in Seattle: Clinton Fearon & the Boogie Brown Band. For his European tours, he has teamed up with another backing band, The Riddim Source, since 2019. It was an instant hit, so much so that he recorded his latest studio album, “Breaking News” (June 2022), with them in France. In all, Clinton Fearon has recorded thirteen albums under his own name and travels the world with this impressive repertoire. He performs at major festivals on every continent, and regularly in the United States (Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Reggae On The River, National Folk Festival, Festival International de Louisiane, Houston International Festival, Salmonstock, Ithaca Reggae Festival, etc.), Canada (Latin Caribbean Festival, Victoria Ska Reggae Festival, World Beat Festival, etc.), Europe (WOMAD, Rototom Sunsplash, Garance Reggae Festival, etc.) and Asia. ), Europe (WOMAD, Rototom Sunsplash, Garance Reggae Festival, Printemps de Bourges, Stimmen festival, Celtic Connectionetc.), Brazil (Virada Cultural, Republica Do Reggae, World Music Festival, Feira de Santana, etc.), Africa (Kenya and Ivory Coast), and other countries occasionally (Peru, Honduras, New Caledonia, Hong Kong, etc.). You can also hear Clinton Fearon sing his songs in collaboration with other artists such as Alpha Blondy (“Together Again”, 2019), The Movement (“Mountain”, 2020), Manjul (“Long Time No See, 2021), Mike Love (”Medicine Man”, 2022)... In 2024, Clinton Fearon returns to France to celebrate the release of his 3rd acoustic album “Survival Vibration” (April 5, 2024). In April and autumn, he performs an acoustic, previously unreleased duo with the talented guitarist Kubix, his companion on the road and in the studio for several years now, and widely renowned for all the albums and concerts he has taken part in, as well as his solo career. Every Clinton Fearon song is a powerful message from the heart of a man who dedicates his life to making the world a better place in his own small way. With his chiseled music and poetic lyrics, he opens up reggae to a wider audience who simply love his beautiful songs.
