An old proverb says that the face is the mirror of the heart... and lately, CHEEKO's has hardened, cracked, weathered, but perhaps also matured and calmed down. This is also the reflection of what CHEEKO presented to us with its EP “Miroir Pt.1” on March 25th. A snippet, a starter and above all a first part of a complete album project.
First off on a wonderful journey, it was strewn with pitfalls, and we had to get lost to better find ourselves. And when you find yourself face to face with your own reflection and there is no longer anyone to lie to, no more looks to shine, then you remain self... the true self in the mirror. First a member of PHASES CACHÉES, then a stubborn actor of the indie movement alongside La Petite Écurie, Baco Music, End of The Weak, Buzz Booster, VOLODIA or many others, CHEEKO's artistic life has turned out to be flowery. encounters as diverse as their horizons. From DELUXE to NAÂMAN, from GUTS to GAËL FAYE, from DANAKIL to OXMO PUCCINO... the one who we knew as a fiery MC and untimely freestyler also turns out to be strikingly sensitive on this new project. On beatmaker TIGERZ's prods, CHEEKO's new album - “mirror ɹıoɹıɯ” is multifaceted, mixing 808s with instruments to highlight its darkest sides, not to mention the sweet madness of self-proclaimed Big Boï Love . A new album then... but above all a new man, a new portrait, built from broken pieces, all in colors and nuances, in his entirety, his doubts and his confidence. A few stories, a lot of life, a few setbacks... ɹıoɹıɯ mirror.
