BIOGRAPHY
Over 20 years of dedicated practice for the youngest of the dinosaurs of French rap. Yes, we're talking about YOSHI DI ORIGINAL, an essential MC on the underground scene with an already impressive career. His dozens of collaborations include some of the best hip-hop has produced from all eras: from DEE NASTY to NEKFEU, including GERARD BASTE, SAÏAN SUPA CREW, JAMALSKI, HIPPOCAMPE FOU, TAIWAN MC, DJ POSKA... and many more.
The same artist whose signature Hip-Hop Momo sound has become a way of life, transcending a single party, an album title, a tour, or even a line of craft beers! Yes, it's all of that, and much more. YOSHI also boasts 5 albums, soon to be 6! ÉCLOSION (2007), TROIS ANS DE DUR LABEUR (2010), HIP-HOP MOMO (2013), YOSHI MEETS S.O.A.P (2015), and C’EST POUR VOUS! (2020). He has sold thousands of CDs, vinyl records, and cassettes independently, along with countless Hip-Hop Momo merchandise items and over 100,000 stickers plastered all over the world. A fan of the slightly crazy rap of Busta Rhymes, ODB, Redman, and Legadulabo (Cyanure/Freko from the group ATK), he's also a master of well-crafted lyrics and killer punchlines that bring a smile. In short, a true rap lover, and the feeling is mutual. A renowned battle MC and freestyler, he won numerous contests back in the day: End Of the Weak, Rap Contenders, BuzzBooster France... and other obscure clashes in Parisian youth centers in the 2000s! Today, Yoshi has performed over 600 concerts in 18 countries. He spent the last two years as the frontman of Smokey Joe & The Kid, rocking the biggest festivals in France and beyond (Musicalarue, Garorock, Boomtown, Le Bout Du Monde, Sun Ska...). The 2024/2025 tour is already planned, featuring the brand-new DI ORIGINALZ lineup, bringing together three of his longtime collaborators: S.O.A.P (CHINESE MAN RECORDS), DJ NELS (TIMEBOMB), and FAYA BRAZ, a beatboxer and multiple French and World champion, for a completely new and wilder show than ever before. YOSHI has some new musical gems to share with you, and to do so, he's dug even deeper. A new album, more introspective, deeper, more mature? Not quite! Because even in his deep tracks, the Dinosaur retains his sense of humor and sharp wordplay.
