BIOGRAPHY
Thomas Pérez-Iñigo, whom we now know as the artist ILEMENTS, is a native of the island of Saint Martin. He grew up on these lands nicknamed "Soualiga" (meaning "land of salt"), first coveted by corsairs, then colonized by the Spanish and later by the French and the Dutch. From the age of 12, writing and singing became essential to ILEMENTS and shaped a part of his daily life.
Once old enough to work, he took on a series of odd jobs, such as organizing horseback riding tours on the beach for wealthy tourists, but managed to stay focused on his art by also performing numerous opening acts and local shows. ILEMENTS envisioned his destiny beyond seas and borders, which is why he promised himself that he would one day leave his island to discover a wider horizon and pursue his music career. Now residing in mainland France, ILEMENTS finally established himself on the international reggae scene in the early 2010s for his talents as a conscious singer and has established himself as an English-speaking songwriter, composer, producer, and performer. Nurturing a style deeply influenced by his Caribbean roots, it was on his native island that he was introduced to reggae and the Rastafari movement. ILEMENTS began to make a name for himself on numerous stages throughout the Caribbean with a singular energy, which he initially channeled into conscious reggae dancehall, much like his peers Capleton, Sizzla, and Buju Banton. Over the years, Ilements broadened his musical palette, rapping over reggae roots, new roots, crossover, and hip-hop riddims, cementing his international reputation with his EP “Skin a Burn” (2013), whose eponymous single and “Weh Dem a Fell Like” remain genre classics to this day. With numerous international concerts under his belt, Ilements tours the world extensively, delivering authentic music that is deeply spiritual, original, and modern. He has previously collaborated in the studio with Chezidek, Lutan Fyah, Jah Mason, Lyricson, Nâaman, and Anthony B. Sizzla and Peetah Morgan, lead singer of the legendary Morgan Heritage, also appear as featured artists on his 2016 album “Justice,” which was among the top-selling Fnac reggae/dancehall albums that year. After returning to Saint Martin in 2017, devastated by Hurricane Irma, and an inspiring trip to Jamaica, Ilements released “Cyaan Trap Me” in 2019, an album with trap influences that infuses his Caribbean vibe with a hip-hop feel. In 2025, ILEMENTS returns with a powerful new album in which introspection, spirituality, and celebration are expressed through conscious lyrics laid over roots reggae and rub-a-dub productions. With his signature energy behind the microphone, Ilements surrounds himself in the studio with the cream of French reggae musicians: Kubix, Saymon, Boris and Smart from Danakil, as well as Manjul. A personal story carefully set to music, its sound paying homage to the singer's Caribbean roots.
